A fantastic new article has been published in the Quaternary Science Review by Sean Ulm et al, examines the recent research into pottery discovered on Jiigurru (Lizard Island).

Ulm and the team report that the material recovered is the “oldest securely dated ceramics found in Australia”, and with dates between 3000 – 1800 BP, their research offers a new and exciting insight into the ancient maritime networks of Aboriginal peoples and the active roles they played within them.
