Healing country affected by mining with beautiful woks of art.

Ngalia elders and traditional owners in Leonora are taking steps to heal their country and their grief by creating woven rugs to seal and cover holes left by mining works through the ‘Reclaim the Void’ project.

The initiative beginning in 2021, as a small community project in which the rugs are created using discarded fabrics to create large scale dot artwork has since evolved into a means if connecting with the wider community and restoring the physical and cultural landscape.

Workshops will be held throughout the year and the products will be on display throughout Perth and Kalgoorlie in 2023.
